It is said that Elizabeth, Queen of Spain, stayed in this charming village in the Parma foothills, Panocchia, before joining her future husband, Philip V of Bourbon.

Elizabeth, the last heir of the powerful Farnese family, was born in Parma on October 25, 1692.

She returned to the city in 1734, when her son Charles became King of the Two Sicilies.

Elizabeth was recognized as Duchess of Parma and Piacenza.

Her diplomatic work led to her eldest son, Philip, becoming Duke of Parma, officially establishing the Bourbon-Parma dynasty.

Staying at the Ciato farmhouse means staying in a region that has shaped part of the history of Italy.
